Shabbos in Krakow

A memorable Shabbat with our USY group — a powerful reminder that Jewish passion and traditions continue to flourish among young people. Judaism and passion for Jewish music and t’fillah is not lost in this generation, but in fact it’s thriving.

The Shabbat began with an energetic Friday evening service featuring harmonious singing, followed by dinner and an extended session of zmiroth lasting over thirty minutes.

Saturday morning brought the group to Temple Shul for services led by three cantors from Israel as part of a Jewish cultural festival. I appreciated davening at a synagogue with that much history, particularly the choir’s performance during Musaf.

The Shabbat concluded with afternoon study, prayer services, a meal, singing, and a spirited havdalah ceremony.

Grateful for knowledgeable young Jewish leaders — one more week down, four more in Israel ahead.
