SHUL REVIEW: Kol Haneshama (Saturday Morning)

Rating: 2/5 — Bleh.

One of Jerusalem’s rare Reform prayer communities. The sanctuary accommodates approximately 150 worshippers, though attendance was sparse and skewed toward an older demographic.

The liturgy incorporated diverse melodies — from ‘Stand By Me’ to various Carlebach compositions to theatrical-sounding tunes — without a consistent musical framework.

Suits those seeking egalitarian worship with non-traditional melodies aligned with American Reform Judaism.

Location: 1 Asher Street, Jerusalem, Baka’a.
